Origin of P.A.P.A. Clothing
You may ask, what does P.A.P.A. stand for? It means, Pushing Ancestors’ Purposes Afar. I created this brand to inspire and motivate individuals to promote positive interactions and to honor the ancestors who set forth the framework for the movement of positivity. Inspiration comes in various forms. At an early age, I met Jeremy Donald, who went on to be a lifelong mentor. We first met when I was in the seventh grade at the Big Brother Big Sister ABC after-school program. Unfortunately, the following year the program lost its funding which led to 25 children losing their mentors, except for me. My Big Brother, Jeremy, continued to mentor me; he did not care if he was getting paid or receiving recognition for his efforts. He genuinely cared about the impact he was making in my life. Jeremy became my football, baseball, and swim coach. With his guidance, I was led to my first job as a lifeguard. He also instilled in me the importance of service through a program called Make A Splash, which taught underserved youth from the west side of Tuscaloosa water safety and how to swim. Jeremy continued his mentorship with me on a more personal level. As a teen, I lived with my grandmother and became rebellious which resulted in me getting kicked out. Jeremy took me under his wing and allowed me to stay with him and his college roommates until I graduated high school. If it wasn’t for Jeremy, I would not have become the person I am today. With his guidance, I became the first person in my family to graduate college with an Industrial Systems Engineering degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Jeremy has been an influential, lifelong mentor and the impact he made on my life led me to the birth of my brand P.A.P.A Clothing in April 2013.
